Volunteering

About Volunteering

Volunteers enable our Club to spend less money on contractors, bartenders, etc. and more money on the things you want. While membership fees help cover the cost of keeping our facility operating (heat, hydro, cleaning, etc.) they do not cover the cost of new equipment or replacing old equipment. Plus our facility was built by volunteers!

Volunteer Opportunities

Smart Serve - Volunteering Behind the Bar

On November 9, 2021, the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) introduced a new 5 year Smart Serve re-certification requirement. Volunteers who held a certificate issued prior to July 1, 2018, expired on August 31, 2023. Complete details can be found on the Smart Serve website. Members interested in finding out more about this important volunteer activity are encouraged to contact members of the CDCRC Board of Directors.

Help Maintain Our Building

Our building is aging and is in need of upgrading and maintenance repairs. The Maintenance Committee needs volunteers to help maintain the grounds, perform routine painting and other general maintenance duties beyond that of the building manager. Watch for information on the Club bulletin boards and the website. If you have skills that would be useful to the Club, please contact the CDCRC Building Committee or the Manager. Thank you!

How to Volunteer

Volunteer signup sheets are usually posted on a bulletin board in the Bennett Lounge. If you are interested in helping out, please contact the Manager or Dave Martz to offer any spare time that you have.

Volunteer Recognition

We appreciate all our volunteers as they truly make a difference. The Club also presents a Volunteer of the Year award to an individual who makes an outstanding contribution. The membership nominates candidates annually by secret ballot and announces the winner at the Club's Spring Banquet.

Congratulations to Debbie McCarthy, awarded Volunteer of the Year for 2024/2025. Previous recipients include:
