CDCRC - President's Message

There has been a lot going on in the club the last few months. Some that you have seen for yourself and others that might not be as noticeable.
We have a busy spring and summer planned this year with the major project being the accessibility work that will be getting under way. The major inconvenience for this project will be the washroom. We will be making quite a mess before this gets completed. This is going to be a bit of a nuisance in that we will be ripping up the floor in the women’s washroom in order to hook up the required drains. We will do our best to keep the inconvenience as minimal a possible.
The Meyers board have been working diligently to get the new Cornhole league off the ground and from what I understand this promises to be a really good time. The sign up for the leagues have been going really great and there are only a few spots still available.
The members that now have Smart Serve certificates will have to get these renewed by the end of June. This can be done online and we really need you to get them updated and for any other members please consider becoming certified.
We are also planning a few projects to spruce the club up, painting and fixing ceilings and drywall that some of the roof leaks have caused. I know summer can be busy but we really do need some help in doing some of these smaller projects. We will be setting up work times and I really hope that you will pitch in where you can.
Have a great spring and summer and I will see you around the club, above all else be safe.

Meyers - President's Message

Dear Members:
Welcome all to the 2023-2024 season of sports, fitness and recreational functions. The Club was able to survive the COVID scares, shutdowns and protocols and during the 2022-23 season, was able to get back to a normal format.
Looking back over the past year, the MSC board accomplished a number of successful ventures.
The April Spring Banquet was a sold out success. A small committee worked diligently over several months and was able to launch Cornhole for three months this past summer. A morning and evening league were sold out. Given that over half were non club members, the leagues offered great exposure to the Club, and a few will be joining.
A new curling league was added for beginners on Sunday afternoons and proved also to be a great success, giving new curlers expert instruction every week in a team format from experienced curlers. This coming season, and based on a members’ survey, a new Doubles Open league will commence on Thursday nights.
During the month of September, the Kettle Bell and Yoga classes will again commence with our very experienced instructors, Alec Dewdney and Lisa LeBlanc. Two extremely successful classes.
The Little Rock/Junior curling program will again kick off in November for those 8-18. An experienced coaching staff will guide them in fun and new skills.
The Club will participate for the first time ever in the Santa Clause parade. This is a huge endeavour and volunteers will be necessary to ensure a fun float focused on promoting Healthy Active Living.
The Marketing committee has a number of initiatives to be entertained but volunteers with various capabilities will be necessary to launch them. We would like to encourage YOU to bring a friend to try one of our activities. They will be pleasantly surprised at what we offer: cardio/weight rooms, sauna, squash courts, curling, yoga and kettle bell classes, and a new steam room. The Club offers something for everyone!
As the new MSC President, please feel free to contact me with any suggestions/concerns that you may have. I look forward to serving you as President and driving the initiatives to further success for the Club.
Regards,
Bob Hemming,
President, Meyers Sports Club.
